Session Description

Fundraising models should respect donors and build strong relationships with them.  And they must also be centered on the communities who know firsthand what is needed for meaningful change. This session will introduce ways to engage donors differently by fostering a sense of belonging and engaging them in transformative (not transactional) work. Drawing on examples from capital campaigns to grant writing, Frank Velásquez Jr. will demonstrate how subtle shifts in language will create powerful connections between your organization, your donors, and your community.

About the Presenter

A racial justice and gender equity advocate, Frank Velásquez Jr. leads and collaborates with passion, authenticity and an open mind. He connects to the stories that make each of us who we are and the stories that inextricably connect us to each other. His passion is to bring local, regional, and national attention to the inequities that communities of color face, so that they can then achieve equitable economic advancement and build generational wealth.
