Please see below for more. \nIDEA in Action – Navigating Fundraising Challenges\npresented by Love Odih Kumuyi\, Founder/Culture Engineering Officer at Unsiloed \nAll things equity\, diversity\, and inclusion are currently caught in a storm. Commitments may flounder due to public pushback in the Court of Public Opinion. While this seems to be the dominant narrative\, those committed to the work are still doing the work. In this interactive fundraising workshop\, professionals will explore the current state of IDEA\, engage in discussion on how to integrate values for inclusion without muscling or smuggling it in\, and learn about a systems approach to equity and inclusion in fundraising. \nLearning outcomes \nThis interactive workshop will combine insights\, facilitated discussions\, and better practices. As a two-time immigrant she understands first hand the challenges of being ‘othered’ and is keen on using creating spaces that feel accessible. Formerly the Associate Dean at Cornell University\, Love worked in dynamic capacities with corporate organizations\, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)\, U.S. Peace Corps\, law firms\, and universities across the globe. With 15 years of interdisciplinary experience utilizing law\, policy\, education\, and research to help organizations engineer inclusion\, she believes with 100% certainty: When we create workplaces where it’s not too expensive for employees to be themselves\, innovation abounds and everyone wins. Love’s superpowers are peacebuilding and conflict transformation. She’s passionate about driving systemic change with empathy\, fostering learning and facilitating dialogue — all in an effort to redefine human relations\, promotes inclusion\, and build psychologically safe workplaces where people can thrive. She is an adjunct professor at New York University\, certified Psychological safety trainer and coach\, mediator and restorative justice practitioner.

SUMMARY:Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrating our Valuable Cultures and Contributions Through the Lens of Advocacy and Fundraising
DESCRIPTION:The rich multi-culturalism of the Latino & Hispanic cultures has contributed immensely to our society. We will examine this cultural intersection to better foster philanthropy based on genuine relationship building & avoid the pitfalls of transactional philanthropy. \nEdna Meza Aguirre (she/her/ella) JD\, CFRE\nA first-generation Tucson native\, Edna is fluently bilingual and bicultural. She received her B.A. from the University of Arizona and law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law. Edna self identifies as BIPOC/Latinx and she is governed by the tenet that representation is crucial. She brings a unique background of law\, teaching\, political and not for profit fundraising to her career. Edna is with the Arizona Center for Women’s Advancement\, the first think tank by and for Arizona Women\, providing information and advocacy to women working to improve their communities. \nShe serves on the board of the Southern Arizona Chapter of Fundraising Professionals as the CFRE (Certified Fundraising Professional Executive) chair where she conducts a course for the CFRE exam; & previously served on the board as National Philanthropy Day co-chair (2013) and chair (2014).
