Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and network with peers. \nJanuary 13th \n11:00 AM registration & networking \n11:30 AM – 1:00 PM program \nCommunity Foundation Campus \nPresentation Description: There are many fundraising emergencies that seem to arise every day – a donor needs immediate attention\, a proposal is due today\, or a mailing needs to be approved right now. Unfortunately\, this can lead to a high level of stress and lack of health for the development program and you\, the practitioner! How can we change the paradigm and create a healthy\, sustainable and doable fundraising program? In this workshop\, we’ll talk about a realistic\, workable plan for your fundraising efforts and strategies to make it actionable every day. \nLunch will be provided. \nMember rate: $25   Non-member rate: $35  Zoom Rate $15 \nAlice L. Ferris\, MBA\, CFRE\, ACFRE\, Founding Partner\, has more than thirty years of professional fundraising experience\, not including her tenure as the “top cookie salesperson” in Girl Scouts in McFarland\, Wisconsin. Alice started her fundraising career as a volunteer at PBS Wisconsin in Madison\, blowing bubbles onto the set during pledge breaks for the Lawrence Welk Show\, which launched a more than 30-year affiliation with public broadcasting. \nAs counsel\, Alice is Director of Development for KAWC Colorado River Public Media and Border Radio in Yuma\, Arizona\, and the Annual Fund Manager for the EAA Aviation Foundation. Alice also teaches for the Masters in Nonprofit Leadership at the University of Denver. \nBefore GoalBusters\, Alice served as Director of Development for Lowell Observatory\, Foundation Director for Flagstaff Medical Center\, and Director of Development for KNAU Arizona Public Radio. During her tenure at Lowell Observatory\, the membership program more than doubled\, and during her time at KNAU\, she led the station to its first US$1 million fundraising year. As Foundation Director for Flagstaff Medical Center\, Alice directed FMC’s philanthropic grants program\, granting over US$1.3 million for community health in the Flagstaff area. \nAlice was the 90th professional to receive the Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) credential and was the 21st recipient of the AFP Founders’ Medallion\, recognizing extraordinary service to the sector. She is also a three-time honoree as AFP-Northern Arizona Fundraising Professional of the Year. She currently serves on the Bolz Center for Arts Administration at the Wisconsin School of Business Advisory Board and the University of Wisconsin Communication Arts Program Board. \nAlice is recognized for her on-air presence on public television and radio pledge drives and national PBS fundraisers\, such as Downton Abbey and The Civil War. Alice earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Radio-TV-Film and Economics and her Master of Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She obtained her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) in 1999\, her ACFRE in 2010\, and has been an AFP Master Teacher since 2006. Alice is a well-reviewed keynote and workshop presenter\, with presentations in North America\, Europe\, Australia\, and Asia. \nWhen not fundraising\, Alice teaches occasional classes in Chinese cooking. She is also a slow half-marathoner and a retired competition ballroom dancer. \nPlease note: \n\nSession will be held in person at the Community Foundation Campus with an option to join by Zoom.\nFormat is subject to change based on COVID spread in our community. SUMMARY:Ethical Considerations When Working With Older Donors
DESCRIPTION:W. Mark Clark\, CEO\, Pima Council on Aging \nOctober 14th – 7:30-9:00 am  \nLocation : CFSA \nWhile capacity for generosity often increases as donors age\, it is important to be cognizant of ethical considerations when working with this group. This workshop will cover the landscape of aging here in Pima County\, as well as how to identify signs of cognitive decline and exploitation. Fundraisers will be challenged define their ethical duty when working with older adults\, and will strategize how create boundaries in those murky ethical grey areas. \n  \nW. Mark Clark is President & CEO of Pima Council on Aging\, a position he has held since 2014. He has more than forty-five years of executive leadership of behavioral health\, human service\, housing and faith-based organizations. From 2011 to 2013 he served as Associate General Minister of the Cleveland-based United Church of Christ. Prior to this position\, Mark served for twelve years as the President & CEO of CODAC Behavioral Health Services. He is currently the Board President of the Presidio San Agustin Museum and a Trustee of the TUSD Benefits Trust. He has been active in number community and professional organizations including the Old Ft. Lowell Neighborhood Association\, the National Organization of Social Workers and United Way of Southern Arizona. He is honored to have been selected to be Arizona Social Worker of the Year in 2009\, and to have received a Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness and the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.  Mark holds a Masters in Social Work from ASU and an undergraduate degree from NAU. He was a 2002 Fellow of the Center for Social Innovation at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. SUMMARY:When Cash Changes Color: Philanthropy from the lens of a “black” woman
DESCRIPTION:Location: Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) 114 B&C \nLooking through the lens of a black woman in the philanthropic world. Learn about her acceptance and nonacceptance journey in white-led philanthropy\, and her parallel mixed emotions of her own black culture and LGBTQ+ allies.  \nMesha Davis\nChief Executive Officer\, Arizona Foundation for Women  \nMesha is the CEO of the Arizona Foundation for Women (AFW) where she fights for the safety\, health and economic empowerment of women in Arizona. Mesha is currently chair\, and recently served as vice-chair\, finance and governance chair of Arizona Grantmakers Board of Directors and serves on their public policy committee. She is also a member on Alliance for Arizona Nonprofits Board of Directors and policy council\, and a member of EPWNG.  \nMesha was recently on the cover (including full article) of So Scottsdale Magazine August 2020 issue and as a part of the 100th 19th Amendment\, selected as a Phoenix Herstories by the Celebration Taskforce\, a citizens commission made up of members of The City of Phoenix’s Women’s Commission\, Arts Commission and Community Champions. Also recognized as one of InBusiness Greater Phoenix Magazine’s 2018 Women of Achievement and received many other awards during her nonprofit leadership in Arizona and other states.  \nPrior to AFW\, Mesha was the Chief Development Officer for Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS and led their $10.1 million capital and capacity campaign. The organization celebrated its 25th anniversary during its 20-year largest fundraising gala. Mesha also served as the VP of Development for The Family Partnership in Minneapolis helping transition a board of advisors to fundraisers building a large donor pool.  \nMesha’s nonprofit journey began at the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. Mesha opened the Northside YMCA\, a $16m\, 114\,000sf YMCA\, kindergarten-8th grade charter school and childcare center\, which experienced increased memberships and program revenues. Mesha received a Master of Science in Management from Cardinal Stritch University and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and lives with her loving life-partner Doug Carter. \nAccording to current Pima County Health Department and CDC guidelines\, AFP is operating in Yellow/Medium category: \n\nMasking is required indoors\nProof of vaccination or a negative test (72 hours) is required at the door\nPlease do not attend if you have recently tested positive for COVID or are showing any potential symptoms\n\nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to Gerry Oldenski at admin@afpsoaz.org.
