SUMMARY:AFP January 2022 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:January Meeting – Giving Circles for a Common Cause \nFriday\, January 14th 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM \n*Please note: Meeting will begin promptly at 11:30 with networking time after the presentation. \nWhen individuals pool their charitable dollars and focus on key issues\, their impact can be far greater than individual gifts. A giving circle’s relationships with specific charities creates a deeper level of involvement for donors and the nonprofits they support. Giving circles allow anyone to contribute to a common cause\, either as a supporting donor or as an active committee member. Members and supporters help to increase the giving circle’s assets over time\, helping to make a significant impact in the communities they serve. Join AFP Southern Arizona and special guest\, Kim Covington\, Vice President of Community Initiatives with the Arizona Community Foundation\, for a special discussion about establishing and sustaining successful giving circles where you’ll learn how giving circles can benefit your organization and its mission. \nKim Covington is the Vice President of Community Initiatives at the Arizona Community Foundation. Covington works to amplify ACF’s presence in diverse communities across the state by creating innovative and community collaborations with existing and new partners. Along with her time at KPNX 12 News as a News Anchor and School Solutions Reporter\, her career spans from Springfield\, Missouri and Grand Rapids\, Michigan to her hometown St. Louis\, Missouri\, ensuring diverse voices were present in her stories and news coverage.  She is the recipient of several awards including four Emmy Awards for excellence in reporting\, several Associated Press awards\, the 2022 Martin Luther King Living the Dream Award\, 2020 Town of Paradise Valley Martin Luther King Diversity Award\, the 2019 Valle del Sol Mom of the Year Award\, 2017 In-Business Women of Achievement Award\, the Black Educators Ragsdale Beacon of Hope Award\, Judge Jean Williams Service Award\, and the Arizona School Public Relations Association Award of Excellence to name a few. \nShe currently serves on several boards including the Cronkite Endowment Board of Trustees\, ASU Lodestar Leadership Council\, City of Phoenix Fast Track Initiatives Ad Hoc Committee to end HIV by 2030\, and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office African American Advisory Council and is a member of the prestigious International Women’s Forum. SUMMARY:Digital Marketing for Donor Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Thanks so much to those of you who joined us for the virtual May meeting. It was comforting\, inspiring\, and heartening to check in with each other and hear about how we are creatively finding solutions to new challenges and changes in fundraising. Our June 12th meeting will also be held virtually. \nFriday\, June 12th 7:30-9:00 A.M.\nMark your calendars\, and we’ll follow up with a Zoom link in the days before the meeting. \nJoin us to learn practical ways to increase your online presence and implement effective donor engagement and stewardship through social media\, email marketing\, and website optimization.  CFSA’s marketing team\, Tamara McKinney and Arielle Sullivan\, will share their process for developing\, implementing\, and evaluating a donor-focused digital marketing strategy. \nPlease take a couple of minutes to fill out this survey to help Tamara and Arielle personalize the presentation for our group. \nA Tucson native\, Tamara has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit communications\, fund development\, operations\, and evaluation.  Prior to joining CFSA as Director of Marketing + Communications\, she was the executive director of a local nonprofit focused on health and food insecurity.  Tamara received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and her MBA from the University of Illinois.  She is the proud mom of two amazing young women and enjoys reading mystery novels\, playing pinball with her husband\, and gardening with native plants to keep her bees and hummingbirds happy. \nArielle Sullivan joined the CFSA team in March 2019 after finding herself uninspired in the travel industry and looking for work that more closely aligned with her personal values. She knew from studying business at Western Carolina University there was a way to do well by doing good. She is inspired daily by the Southern Arizona nonprofit community and finds it deeply rewarding to share the stories that make our nonprofit partners and the donors that support them so special. When she isn’t on Campus\, Arielle and her husband find themselves attempting to keep their daughter from eating the dog’s food and their dogs from eating human food while planning their next outdoor adventure. \nThere will be no charge to participate in the program\, but to help offset the chapter’s loss of canceling our in-person programming\, we’ll be accepting donations of any size to our Locally Grown Campaign\, which directly supports our scholarship program. Donations can be made on the SoAZ AFP website here \nWe hope to see you (via Zoom) on June 12th!
