DESCRIPTION:Presented by Elise Christmon\, Valerie Sipp\,  Edna Meza-Aguirre\, CFRE\, JD and Anton Russell \nFebruary 10\, 2023 \n8:30 am Networking\, 9:00-10:00 am Program \n$25 Members\, $35 Nonmembers\, $15 Zoom \nBreakfast included \nCommunity Foundation Campus \nSession Description: Join AFP Southern Arizona chapter members Elise Christmon\, Valerie Sipp\,  Edna Meza-Aguirre\, CFRE\, JD and Anton Russell to learn about how IDEA work is transforming our chapter. This panel session will examine AFP Southern Arizona chapter as a case study in implementing IDEA followed by interactive discussion and participant brainstorm about IDEA in their own organizations. Over the past five years\, though a commitment to focusing fundamentally on IDEA\, our chapter has begun to transform into one where an IDEA lens drives every facet of our chapter’s work. Our successes include the creation of a BIPOC leadership pipeline\, creation of a community-based BIPOC affinity group\, establishing an equitable compensation model for our presentation speakers\, flattening the traditional mentorship hierarchy model\, adopting community-centric fundraising principles\, and more. A longtime annual IDEA Champion designation recipient\, our chapter continues to deepen our commitment to IDEA as our driving force and is eager to share our approach with other chapters. \n\n

SUMMARY:The Donor Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join AFP Southern Arizona Chapter for our 2026 Educational Series!\n\nJune Education Breakfast\nJune 12\, 2026\n8 – 9:30 AM\n8 AM Breakfast & Registration\n8:30-9:30 AM Program \nCommunity Foundation for Southern Arizona Campus\n5049 E Broadway Blvd.\nTucson\, Az 85711 \nTopic: The Donor Conversation We’ve Been Afraid to Have (and Why We Need to Have it Now).\nPresented by Frank Velasquez\, Jr. 4daHood \nThe communities we work with are facing increased attacks and our work itself is under scrutiny. This session addresses the fears we’ve been carrying about having vulnerable conversations with donors and offers practical strategies to build genuine connections that center community expertise\, navigate power dynamics with honesty\, and position donors as contributors to collective movements led by community wisdom. \n\nAbout Frank:  Storyteller Extraordinaire\, Social Justice Warrior and Relation Cultivator\, Frank Velásquez Jr.\, relentlessly pursues racial and gender equity\, while creatively connecting our stories\, preserving the distinct flavor of each one like in a yummy bowl of gumbo. As Founder of 4 Da Hood and the mastermind behind the Ascending Leaders in Color program\, he forges paths for Peeps of Color to lead with more authenticity\, courage\, and joy! Because for Frank\, advancing equity isn’t just a job – it’s a movement towards building generational wealth for communities of color to thrive! And he’s doing it one connection\, one story\, one courageous conversation at a time. \nDownload list of 2026 Meeting Topics/Dates \n\n\n \n \n Monthly Meeting RSVP | Online Purchase -June 2026\n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Organization*Email*\n \n Monthly MeetingRegistration Fees*$25 Members/$35 Non-members/$15 Reduced rate (limit of 10)\n\nIf the full registration fee presents a barrier that would prevent you from attending\, we welcome you to register at a reduced rate of $15 – limited number available.\nIf you purchased a 2026 Education Monthly Meeting package and want to register another attendee\, please register them separately.\n \n \n Member $25\n \n \n \n Nonmember $35\n \n \n \n Reduce Rate $15\n \n \n \n Edu package holder $0\n # of Attendees*Names of Additional AttendeesPayment method*Mail payment to: P.O. SUMMARY:Stop Winging It
DESCRIPTION:Join AFP Southern Arizona Chapter for our 2026 Educational Series!\nSeptember Education Breakfast\nSeptember 11\, 2026\n8 – 9:30 AM\n8 AM Breakfast & Registration\n8:30-9:30 AM Program \nNOTE:  DIFFERENT LOCATION for this MEETING \nSands Club at University of Arizona\n565 N. Cherry Ave\nTucson\, Az  \nTopic: Stop Winging It: A Smarter Framework for Portfolio Management and Donor Stewardship\nPresented by Phoebe Chalk\, Chalk Consulting \nMost of us got into this work because we care about the mission\, not because we love managing spreadsheets or tracking touchpoints. But here’s the truth: without a clear portfolio strategy and a real stewardship plan\, even your best donors could quietly walk out the door. In this session\, Dr. Chalk-Wadsworth will introduce two practical frameworks\, a Prospect Framework for understanding exactly where your donors and prospects sit (and when to ask)\, and a tiered Stewardship Matrix that takes the guesswork out of who gets what touch and when. Whether you’re just building your first portfolio or you’ve been doing this for 20 years\, you’ll leave with tools you can use on Monday morning. \n\nAbout the Speaker\nDr. Phoebe Chalk-Wadsworth is the President and CEO of Chalk Consulting\, a boutique firm she launched in 2022 to help nonprofits\, schools\, and athletic organizations strengthen fundraising strategy and drive transformational growth. In nearly five years\, she has partnered with more than 13 organizations across arts\, education\, faith-based\, and athletic sectors\, providing expertise in capital campaigns\, major gifts\, feasibility studies\, and board engagement. \nWith more than 35 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit leadership\, Dr. Chalk-Wadsworth is known for her strategic insight\, relationship-driven approach\, and ability to build sustainable fundraising systems that align leadership and inspire donor investment. \nPrior to founding Chalk Consulting\, she spent 31 years at the University of Arizona\, where she raised more than $29 million and participated in five comprehensive capital campaigns. \nA Tucson native\, she holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Arizona and remains deeply engaged in the local community. \nDownload list of 2026 Meeting Topics/Dates \n\n\n \n \n Monthly Meeting RSVP | Online Purchase -September 2026\n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Organization*Email*\n \n Monthly MeetingRegistration Fees*$25 Members/$35 Non-members/$15 Reduced rate (limit of 10)\n\nIf the full registration fee presents a barrier that would prevent you from attending\, we welcome you to register at a reduced rate of $15 – limited number available.\nIf you purchased a 2026 Education Monthly Meeting package and want to register another attendee\, please register them separately.\n \n \n Member $25\n \n \n \n Nonmember $35\n \n \n \n Reduce Rate $15\n \n \n \n Edu package holder $0\n # of Attendees*Names of Additional AttendeesPayment method*Mail payment to: P.O.
